Psychotherapy
"What you focus on, expands," common phenomenon in many self-care books which has a deep meaning and amazing results in one's life if understood and applied. Therapy works in a similar manner. If one ruminates on negative thoughts, this can create more misery. More misery can create emotional disturbances which can lead to mood disorders. Therapy serves as a great instrument to mitigate these negative thoughts and heal the mind with optimism.
Related to psychotherapy, my techniques include journaling, ventilation, breathing, mindfulness, meditation, supportive and similar modalities that offer you an opportunity to focus on your mind, body and spirit.
Nutrition Psychiatry
My love for eating healthy has been nurtured by my father who I remember bought his first juicer. He fostered in me "you are what you eat." Thus, the reason I pursued to major in Nutrition.
Nutrition can play a major role in well-being, and according to the World Health Organization (2024), certain foods can significantly lower the risk of obesity, diabetes, stroke and other health challenges which can also lead to anxiety and depression. Nutrition psychiatry can be considered an emerging field with research showing how change in diet can impact mood disorders. Therefore, integrating nutrition in my practice as a psychiatrist is inevitable. This will include a include a health assessment, a diet evaluation and plan, and a look at what foods will contribute to your optimum mental health.

Medication Management
Along with psychotherapy and/or nutritional psychotherapy, another excellent way to improve one’s well-being would be through the use of medication management. The use of medications can significantly improve one’s perspective and help create a better way of living. While medications do have risks, the benefits far outweigh the risks.
My perspective lies with my desire to treat patients with an all encompassing view. This holistic approach will help you to evaluate your life to bring about a better way of living. Lastly, I believe that change must happen from within, thus, your treatment plan will be incomplete without your consent.
